Reading is a favorite activity in our house, especially in the winter when it’s too cold to be outside. We enjoy curling up on the couch under a warm blanket reading lots of good books together. What better way to mark our page than with a fun winter bookmark we color ourselves?!

Today I am sharing with you 6 winter coloring bookmarks for your children to color. These are even fun for you to color, too! Coloring together is such a relaxing activity and your children will love the cute winter designs on each bookmark. Plus, coloring is a great way for your children to improve their motor skills 🙂

These winter coloring bookmarks:

  • Make a cute winter coloring craft
  • Make reading fun and highly interesting
  • Provide a calm and relaxing (Did someone say stress-free??) activity to do with your children on a cold winter day
  • Make a thoughtful gift for your children or color them in and gift to friends or family members. Everyone will love a custom-colored bookmark to keep their spot in a good book!
  • Give your readers ownership over keeping their spot in a favorite book, especially as they get older and start to read longer books
  • Give your children a way to express their creativity

Each set of winter coloring bookmarks includes 6 different designs, with 5 bookmarks per design. The printable pdf includes one sheet per design plus one page that is mixed designs.

Coloring Your Printable Winter Bookmarks

You can use your favorite coloring item to bring each winter bookmark design to life. I recommend printing on thicker paper, such as white cardstock, especially if using markers, watercolor paints or gel pens. Below are some of our favorite items we use to color these winter bookmarks:

Crayons – We absolutely love using our Crayola Twistables. These crayons are great because they don’t require any sharpening. Your children simply twist up when ready to use and twist down when all finished.

Colored Pencils – My daughter recently received a set of colored pencils for Christmas and she is currently obsessed with using them to color. These work really well on the winter bookmarks because there are smaller details to color on some of them.

Markers – I recommend using thinner markers on these winter coloring bookmarks. The pictures are smaller and the fine line markers work best, in my opinion. It’s also fun to outline the pictures in marker and use colored pencils or crayons to color.

Watercolor Paints – My kids love to paint and watercolor paints create such a pretty picture when used on these winter coloring bookmarks. We absolutely love the variety of colors included in this watercolor paint set. You can even encourage your children to use the different shades of blue and purple on the bookmarks. These colors remind me of winter.

Gel Pens – This is a new coloring tool for us and it’s definitely a hit! I remember when I was in high school, gel pens were something we loved buying for school. I never colored with them, but enjoyed doodling and writing with them. I recently came across this set of 100 glitter gel pens for my daughter. She is officially obsessed!

How to Make Your Winter Coloring Bookmarks

  1. Print on White Cardstock.
  2. Color them in with your coloring tool of choice. Put on some music and have fun!
  3. Laminate the sheet for durability.
  4. Cut out each bookmark.
  5. Use a single hole punch to put a hole in the top.
  6. Put a piece of yarn or ribbon through the hole, tying together at the top.
  7. Use your bookmark to mark your page in a good book.
